My Trip to Virginia

Cold.

Oh dear gods was it cold.

Have I mentioned I’m a Florida girl? We don’t do well in 15 degrees.

Asides from that, this last minute trip was a blast! My friend called me two weeks prior and invited me along. We started off visiting the Edgar Allen Poe Museum. There we saw tons of original artifacts and work as well as a piece of Poe’s hair.

Turns out Poe was quite the snarky little dude perfectly willing to share his opinions, my friend suggested that it would be fun to see what he would have had to say about current literary fads such as Twilight.  Nothing flattering, I predict!

Friday saw us back in Williamsburg, this time to wander the shops just outside the historical section. The weather had warmed up slightly and the sun was out (still cold though) making the shopping extremely pleasant.

The last stop on our trip was Mount Vernon, the gorgeous estate of the Washington Family. No pictures were allowed inside the mansion but there were plenty of interesting things on the grounds.

Posting will be limited until after St. Patrick’s Day, I’m making new costumes for our school and with about three weeks left I’m going to be working my butt off. I haven’t even started because the fabric is not here yet. This is where I try to remain calm and not freak out-with limited success. Wish me luck.
